There are options for direct flights to Cayo Largo or landing in Havana, from which you can then take a domestic flight that takes you to your final destination in about 45 minutes: the small Aeropuerto Internacional Vilo Acuña. The size of the island is very small, so you can easily get around on foot, by bicycle, by hiring a car, by taxi or even by bus.
The beauty of Cayo Largo is in its beaches, its clear sea, and its extraordinary seabeds where you can discover the florid life underwater. You can also go on excursions to the smaller islets, all still wild and pristine, such as Cayo Iguana and Cayo Rico, both home to large iguanas. Alternatively, in Cayo Largo you can visit Granya de las Tortugas, a turtle farm located in a protected environment.
The town has extraordinary beaches, true Caribbean paradises. Playa Sirena has marvellous white sand, a deep blue sea and offers opportunities to go kayaking and windsurfing; Playa Paradiso is a haven of peace and relaxation with gentle, warm waters; Playa Tortuga is full of sand dunes where turtles go to lay their eggs; Playa Mal Tiempo is surrounded by a wide coral reef, is less known and therefore extremely quiet. Whatever your choice, don't miss the chance to go diving and snorkelling.
Cayo Largo's livelihood is based almost exclusively on tourist resorts, all equipped with every service to ensure each visitor a pleasant stay. Its resorts have plenty of restaurants, entertainment, shows, music and activities for daytime and evening fun. Outside the resorts there are also some nightclubs (in the La Marina harbour) and a few restaurants with traditional Cuban dishes. One of the most interesting events is Carnival, which generally takes place from July to mid-September.
